City Manager to Meet Monthly with Builders and Developers

January 20th, 2012 by

As a way to encourage new business activity in Georgetown and to help identify and remove any roadblocks in the development process, City Manager Paul Brandenburg will begin holding monthly meetings for those in the development and building sector. The informal meetings will provide a chance for those involved in the development and building process to talk directly with Brandenburg.

“Georgetown has a strong and diversified business sector including biotechnology, high tech manufacturing, and retail,” says Brandenburg. “While the last three years were a challenge across the country, Georgetown continued to grow. We are now seeing a noticeable increase in new businesses and construction activity.”

The first meeting will be at 7:30 a.m. on Wednesday, January 25 at Duke’s Smokehouse, located at 408 W. Morrow Street (see map below). The meeting will be open to all. Brandenburg plans to hold these regular meetings on the last Wednesday each month.

“I hope this constructive dialogue will continue to forge a strong relationship with the development and building community as we move forward,” says Brandenburg.

A number of new businesses and development projects have started in recent months, indicating a re-energized business environment in Georgetown. A 179-unit apartment and condominium development is now under construction on N. Austin Avenue and several new businesses are opening in the historic downtown.

In addition to monthly informal sessions, Brandenburg also is available to meet individually to discuss projects or issues. Call (512) 930-3723 to schedule a meeting outside the monthly meetings.
