Citizen Police Academy Starts April 8

The Citizen Police Academy is a ten-week course taught by police officers to give participants an inside view of the Georgetown Police Department. The program covers the history of policing, laws and code of criminal procedure, criminal and accident investigations, weapons, crime scene investigations, officer safety, and the court system.

Classes for 2010 will start on Thursday, April 8 and end with a graduation ceremony on Thursday, June 10. All classes start at 6:30 p.m. and end before 9:00 p.m. The first class will be held in the training room of the Georgetown Communications and Technology (GCAT) building located at 510 W. Ninth Street, at the southwest corner of Martin Luther King, Jr. and W. Ninth Streets.
