Share

March 2nd, 2010 by Keith Hutchinson

Spring is just around the corner. Along with warmer temperatures and wildflowers, that means thunderstorms and severe weather.

Two weather experts are coming to Sun City on March 9 to give a special presentation called SkyWarn. Paul Yura, warning coordination meteorologist with the National Weather Service and Troy Kimmel, meteorologist for KEYE 42 TV and KVET, KASE, and KFMK radio stations in Austin will provide a free training on how you can use visual clues to identify an approaching supercell thunderstorm.

The SkyWarn presentation starts at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 9 at The Worship Place at 811 Sun City Boulevard in Sun City. The training is free and open to the public.

Skywarn is sponsored by City of Georgetown Emergency Management, the Sun City Emergency Management Committee, and the National Weather Service. By attending and completing the Skywarn training, you will be an official weather spotter for the National Weather Service.

For more information, contact Kevin Stofle, emergency management coordinator for the City of Georgetown at kstofle@georgetowntx.org or (512) 930-8412.
