Intralink-Spine at TLCC Secures NIH Grant
Intralink-Spine, Inc. in Georgetown has been awarded a $750,000 grant from the National Institutes of Health for pre-clinical studies on a device to treat degenerative disc disease and low back pain. The Small Business Innovation Research grant from NIH enables Intralink to complete pre-clinical testing and begin clinical trials later this year.
According to Intralink, their injectable treatment for disc degeneration immediately strengthens and stabilizes the disc, which reduces disc bulge and pain without major invasive surgery. An estimated 15 million people each year in the U.S. have low back pain.
Intralink, a spin-off company from Orthopeutics LP, is located at the Texas Lifesciences Collaboration Center in Georgetown.
TLCC is a nonprofit enterprise for post-incubation biotechnology and life-sciences companies founded by the City of Georgetown, Southwestern University, and the Georgetown Chamber of Commerce.
