Sip, Savor, Shop for Valentine’s at Swirl on Feb. 12
The Georgetown Swirl…Sip, Savor, Shop event is coming to the Georgetown Square to kick-off Valentine’s weekend on Friday, February 12. Like a grown-up scavenger hunt, participants can walk around the downtown district to sample fine food and wine at a variety of local shops from 6 to 9 p.m.
The Georgetown Main Street Advisory Program and Texas Wine and Grape Growers Association have teamed up with former Georgetown Mayor Gary Nelon, who serves as the honorary event chair, to plan this inaugural event.
Live music will be offered by Georgetown’s own Cactus Groove jazz trio. Only 250 tickets will be sold for $25 each, keeping the event an intimate gathering. Tickets are on sale now at the Georgetown Visitor Information Center, Williamson Museum, Georgetown Chamber of Commerce, Georgetown Winery, First Texas Bank, and on the event website at swirl.georgetown.org.
Along with the tastings, a silent auction offering original gift items will be held in the historic Williamson County Courthouse, 710 S. Main Street. The silent auction benefits the Texas Wine and Grape Growers Foundation and Georgetown Main Street Program’s Façade and Sign Grant Program. Through this program, building owners may obtain grants for the improvement of downtown signage and facades, while keeping the building’s historical integrity.
“For over 25 years, the Georgetown Main Street Program has played an integral role in keeping our historic downtown Square healthy and vibrant, both economically and historically,” said Gary Nelon, former Georgetown mayor and honorary chair of the Georgetown Swirl. “Join me for a glass of wine at the Georgetown Swirl event on the evening of Friday, February 12 in support of the Main Street Program’s Façade & Sign Grant Program, which has awarded over $135,000 in grant funds back to local businesses.”
Major sponsors of the event include Book Pride, Community Impact, First Texas Bank, Minuteman Press, Pathfinder Partners, The Jewelry Box at Amore, the Williamson County Sun, and Silver and Stone.
