Robert Fite Takes Oath as Fire Chief: Photos

Robert Fite took the oath of office to become Georgetown’s new fire chief on Friday, March 6. Mayor George Garver administered the oath of office (at right) in a ceremony at the city council chamber with family, friends, and fire department co-workers in attendance. Fite’s first day of work in Georgetown was March 2.

Chief Fite is a 20-year fire and EMS veteran who worked as a battalion chief in the City of Richardson fire department. He is an executive fire officer graduate of the National Fire Academy, as well as a licensed paramedic and master firefighter. Fite has a master’s degree in human resource management from Midwestern State University and a bachelor’s degree in fire administration from Western Illinois University.

The Georgetown Pipes and Drums band played at the swearing in ceremony (below) . The band includes Georgetown Firefighters Robert Gordon, Matt Wilson, Captain David England, and Captain Jeff Davis, as well as musicians from the Austin Fire department pipes and drums band.

Fire Department Honor Guard members presented the colors at the ceremony (below). Honor guard members include Apparatus Operator Craig Owen, Captain Craig Krienke, Captain Carl Boatright, Firefighter Roland Azua, and Battalion Chief Scott Gibson.
