Budget Summary and Public Comment

There will be an opportunity for public comment on the proposed City of Georgetown budget for the 2008/2009 fiscal year at two meetings in August and one in September. A summary of the budget is available on the Finance page.

A public hearing on the 2008/2009 budget will be held on August 26, 2008. The hearing will be during the regular Tuesday council meeting that starts at 6 p.m.

A special city council meeting will be held at 4 p.m. on Thursday, August 28, 2008. At that meeting, the council is scheduled to approve the first reading of the 2008/2009 budget and tax ordinances.

The second and final reading of the 2008/2009 budget and tax ordinances will be on September 9, 2008. The hearing will be during the regular Tuesday council meeting that starts at 4 p.m.

All three meetings will be held at the Council Chamber and Courts Building located at 101 E. Seventh Street in Georgetown.

The 2008/2009 fiscal year begins on October 1, 2008.
