The Georgetown Public Library and The San Gabriel Writer’s League announce start of The Georgetown Library  Writer’s College .

Are you eager to test the waters of creative writing but not sure where to start – or how to start? Have you written previously but been away from it? Or, never studied before? Deciding where and how to begin and the demands of writing the manuscript may seem daunting. This need not be. Our creative writing courses will guide you surely and safely into the writing life. You will expand your powers of observation, imagination, and language. You will collect numerous tips on craft and practices. You will be exposed to various forms of creative writing in the fields of prose fiction and nonfiction. Weekly assignments, group interaction, and instructor feedback help you explore various methods of writing while learning the key craft points of plot, structure, point-of-view, sense of place, and voice. Ideas will be sparked, confidence acquired, and you’ll gain a sense of where to move with your writing. Creative writing is one of the most stimulating and fulfilling ways to express yourself, and you’re never too young or too old to explore its wonders. So come on in. The water’s fine.

Come hang out with best selling and award winning authors Dr. Dave Ciambrone (Williamson County Sun’s Uncle Dave), Sylvia Dickey Smith and Williamson County Sun’s Joan Upton Hall and other top authors for the new Georgetown Library Writer’s College starting this fall.

Classes will be at the Georgetown Public Library at 402 W. 8^th Street, Georgetown, TX. The first class is Everything a Writer Needs to Know, but is Afraid to Ask (One night) Monday Sept. 8, 2008 . The cost is $20. Other classes in the series will follow.
