Library Website Named the Best in Texas
The website for the Georgetown Public Library was named the best in Texas for cities under 75,000 population. The first place award was announced Friday at the annual meeting of the Texas Association of Municipal Information Officers, an organization for communication professionals in local government.
The new library website features a teen blog, slide shows, photo galleries, hot reads listings, and webcasts from the Library of Congress. The site also offers meeting room calendars, e-books that can be downloaded to an MP3 player, online reference sources, and an online catalogue where users can search for, hold, or renew a book or other item.
The redesigned website went live earlier this year. It was created by the staff at the Georgetown Public Library and Erin McDonald, webmaster for the City.
TAMIO is an affiliate of the Texas Municipal League, an organization which represents 98 percent of Texas’ urban population through its more than 1,000 member cities and towns. Award finalists are listed on the TAMIO website at www.texastamio.org.
