Ladder to roofAn outdoor burn ban is in effect as of June 16 due to dry conditions. The burn ban was instituted by Williamson County Judge Dan Gattis for all of Williamson County. The ban remains in effect until further notice.

The burn ban prohibits burning any combustible material outside of an enclosure which serves to contain all flames and/or sparks. The burning of household yard waste, such as leaves, grass, brush and other yard trimmings, is prohibited. Burning to clear land of trees, stumps, shrubbery, or other natural vegetation also is prohibited.

The purpose of the burn ban is to mitigate the hazard posed by wildfires due to dry conditions by curtailing the practice of outdoor burning. The burn ban may be enforced by any duly-commissioned peace officer.

Outdoor burning is not allowed at any time within the City Limits of Georgetown, unless the Georgetown Fire Department has issued a permit authorizing an outdoor burn.

Are we still in a burn ban? I am outside city limits and would like to use fireworks.

Yes, the County burn ban is still in effect. However, the burn ban does not prohibit the use of fireworks outside City Limits.

Outdoor burning and the use of fireworks are both prohibited in Georgetown City Limits.
