June 12th, 2008 by Judy F

TSOS Show at Georgetown Public LibraryThroughout the month of June, some seventy pieces of sculpture by members of the Texas Society of Sculptors (TSOS) are on display at the Georgetown Public Library, 402 W Eighth Street. This is one of the largest shows TSOS has ever installed. Works range from monumental to small tabletop pieces and the media used include bronze, wood, fiberglass, stone, glass and pottery. Pieces are on display in all of the public areas of the library and outside the south entrance.

On Sunday, June 15, from 3 to 6 p.m., the public is invited to the show’s opening reception in the Hewlett Room, on the second floor of the library. Take this opportunity to meet the artists and talk with them about their work.

The following Saturday, from 1 to 5 p.m., again in the Hewlett Room, Gregory Beck, Rodney Bohl, Mary Griffin, and Christopher Robbins, each using in a different medium, will demonstrate their methods. After having seen the pieces on display, you’ll be able to learn exactly how some of them began and observe how painstaking and time-consuming the artistic process is.

The TSOS show will be at the library until June 29.
