Lighting of the Square on November 23
Celebrate the holiday season on the day after Thanksgiving at the annual Lighting of the Square event on Friday, November 23. The event will be held on the east steps of the newly-restored Williamson County Courthouse at 710 South Main Street in historic downtown Georgetown.
The festivities include entertainment from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Williamson County Pct. 1 Commissioner Lisa Birkman and Georgetown Mayor Gary Nelon will lead the official lighting of the Courthouse and grounds at 6 p.m. Stores will be open until 8 p.m. Entertainment will be provided by the Austin Carolers, and refreshments will be provided.
This year, the City of Georgetown and Williamson County have added more lights for downtown businesses and the Courthouse to enhance the holiday feeling on the Square. The Courthouse grounds will be decked out with wreaths and garland, a large 14-foot Christmas tree, and thousands of white lights will wrap the large pecan trees on the Courthouse lawn.
